Cambria Connected is a county wide wireless system initiated by the Cambria County Commissioners in Pennsylvania. The Federal government mandated a required upgrade to all 911/EMS (Emergency Management System) systems. This 5 year $10M program not only addresses the Federal mandate it also provides economic opportunity for Cambria County while bringing High Speed Internet to rural and underserved communities.

          Cambria Connected closes the Digital Divide that rural areas face. 




With $9M of funds committed to upgrading the EMS system an additional $1M was added to provide high speed internet to rural and historically underserved communities. Bringing 21st century communication pathways to small communities is the vision of the Commissioners. 

Where the average mile of highway ranges from $5M - $20M, this County-Wide network was installed for a total of $10M. The network is continually expanding to provide coverage to the valleys that have limited or no service. In time, this service will be provided to most communities.

Cambria Connected (www.cambriaconnected.net) is a partnership between the local government and businesses to provide high speed broadband services to rural and underserved communities, create jobs through entrepreneurship, and provide economic revitalization to an area that lost jobs after the steel and coal industries down turn.
